So last week the paper sent me out to cover a story related to the ice storm even though it's not my job to be a reporter. It ended up running Sunday with very few changes on the front page.
The good news: I'll be doing more writing that will enable me to possibly get a good journalism-related job when I move and be able to better afford things like an apartment.

I suppose it's because I grew up in and out of a newspaper office, but I've always seemed to had an ability to grasp things regarding publishing and journalism quickly. I've been highly praised for my review writing, won some press awards and had a good run doing comics and illustrations for both the Garden City and Kansas State college papers. I had photos published in my local paper from state track the season I was an alternate on our state-champeen 4x100 team (even though I stink at photography) when they'd never had state track photos before. With the exception of one job writing press releases for KSU, it's always come really easy for me. I'm really happy about it.
The bad news: I'll be doing more writing and not getting paid any extra for it. Hey, you can't have everything...
But all in all, the job is going well and if I can get through the two days after Christmas, I think it'll settle down and I'll keep learning a lot.
Side note: this is going to be the hardest five days ever waiting to see Christiane again for the holiday. Also: I will be getting in contact with my commission customers over the next few days to clear things up with them.

I can see some in the faces though. You're right about that. I used to do a LOT of eyes like that.

I can't remember the last time I did a pin-up. I only did a couple that were REALLY like that with the more than implied girl-on-girl and they were for friends. One of which was a joke and one of which was for a lesbian.
